Forgotten Legends

As the NBA continues to progress we continue to see evolution in the game of basketball. But with that evolution and progression comes the inevitable neglect of players that helped shape the game and make it what it is today. Many great players that hold records that still have not been broken, are not as recognizable as they used to be. Or if they're known it's because of their endeavors after basketball. My solution to this problem was to create a collection of posters, a website, social media ads, and a cohesive branding system. Forgotten Legends was made in effort to commemorate a past era of basketball that helped make basketball what it is today.

Branding

I wanted brand colors that stayed close to the NBA, I also wanted to create an identity that would be applicable in numerous places. This logo is one that can be seen on jerseys, courts, posters, and in promotional pieces. Below you can see a breakdown of the logo and the fonts that I chose. Both the logo and the font were put together to establish a strong, consistent, and cohesive identity that can be used across all forms of media.

AR Posters

For each of my posters I wanted to create a collage and handmade feel for each poster. I wanted to have pieces in each poster that were represenative of each players career. Whether it be the city they played in, or their career achievements, I wanted there to be an emphasis on each poster being unique to each player.

The paper tears and paint marks helped to maintain cohesiveness throughout each of the posters regardless of what was used for each player. Having each poster be unique yet still be able to fit in with an entire collection was a key part of this section of the project. Each of the paper tears and paint marks I made myself and scanned in.

These posters also come have an augmented reality feature! If you download the Artivive app, you can scan these posters and watch them come to life!

Website

The website served as a place for my audience to go and further learn about each of the athletes featured in the project. The site included an about page, player biographies, a page to watch live NBA games, and a page where viewers could see the posters and scan them. There was a focus on making sure the website was an interactive experience that encourage viewers to explore each page and learn more. To try the website click the link below!
